No way would I drink 17 8-oz. glasses of water a day, and I couldn't even fathom drinking thirty. I do think it's important to drink more than 8 if you're exercising, but 30 sounds absolutely crazy.

By the way, funny thing about sweating: I used to work out with two guys; we'd do spinning classes and weight lifting together. Now, when I'd spin, my whole head would be *drenched* in sweat, as if I stuck my head in a sink or something, but my clothes would never show any. And they always had these huge sweat marks going down the fronts of their shirts and I'd say I was jealous because it looked like they were working way harder than me. Lol. So wear your sweat proudly, it shows that you're doing a good job and working hard. :)screwdestinyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00777895976599010393noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6654199466450477041.post-66928583751520263642010-03-10T19:47:43.726-05:002010-03-10T19:47:43.726-05:00My sister's mother in law is currently very un...My sister's mother in law is currently very unwell because she drinks 5 litres of water a day. I'm a nurse and have read the pros and cons of all water intake philosophies. I think maybe closer to half your body weight might be safer--I don't do that much still. Plus you can really stress the kidneys and heart if you super overhydrate. That is getting into the 'water intoxication' area, depending on how quickly is is drunk, isn't it?266https://www.blogger.com/profile/16170707764904423302noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6654199466450477041.post-27325956605305727622010-03-09T23:58:55.658-05:002010-03-09T23:58:55.658-05:00Hey Tammy... um.. i think your trainer is NUTSO......Hey Tammy... um.. i think your trainer is NUTSO... but that could be just me.. have you ever heard of water intoxication? there are actually people in mental health care with this problem.. however (I got this from about.com)

"As a general guideline, most adults need about three quarts of fluid each day. Much of that water comes from food, so 8-12 eight ounce glasses a day is a common recommended intake. You may need more water if the weather is very warm or very dry, if you are exercising, or if you are taking certain medications. The bottom line is this: it's possible to drink too much water, but unless you are running a marathon or an infant, water intoxication is a very uncommon condition. I'm actually working for a staffing place called Teacher's R Us in Kennesaw. They send me to different daycares and school who need subs or want to try people out before they let someone else go. That kinda thing. Yes it's daily pay by the daycares when my shift is done and I make my own schedule only down side is I get a 1099 at the end of the year which means I'll be paying taxes not getting any back. LOL. I have an interview at Macy's next Tuesday also so I'll see if I'm able to work both jobs. If not I'll keep the Macy's job since they take out taxes. I never thought I'd see the day where I actually liked Uncle Sam taking my money from my paycheck. Several doctors, nutritionists and physical therapists have told me to drink HALF my body weight in water. 1/2 ounce per pound they told me. If I drink that much it does help me lose but it's hard for me to do when it's cold out, much easier to get in THAT much water when it's warm!

Even with working out my doctor told me no more than 16 more ounces added..He said only if I'm sweating like crazy for a LONG time (like hours) or it's extremely hot out..He said it can have negative effects (especially making certain medications ineffective by diluting the chemicals more than they should be)

My old nutritionist explained how the eight glasses is a 'guideline' because that's ABOUT what your body needs to maintain things IF your at a 'normal' weight. That that guideline does NOT take into account extra pounds, especially over 100 extra pounds..

Hope that helps!Fat Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01654416517724617507noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6654199466450477041.post-22470564727818214302010-03-09T20:45:46.460-05:002010-03-09T20:45:46.460-05:00My trainer has told me the same thing on the water...My trainer has told me the same thing on the water...it's hard but I try to do it.
