I've Officially Lost My Mind
I had lunch with my fabulous friend Kim this past Sunday and I made a commitment. It's something we actually said we would do last year, knowing it was coming up at the end of this year, but haven't talked about it in a few months. We have committed to walking a half marathon together this November in Savannah, GA. Yes, it's ONLY walking....not running....but I'm obese, so this seems like a big deal to me. 13 miles. I hope I don't die. I need to start walking soon. One minor problem. Work is still crazy busy, and I am so exhausted when I get home from work every night. The last thing I want to do is strap on some tennis shoes and head back out the door to exercise. I need to get over it. I'm committed now....and should probably also be committed somewhere that has padded walls. :)

I'm a new follower and just wanted to say good for you...If if makes you feel any better, I'd only be able to walk too. No way can I run...I've JUST started walking and am only doing 1-1.3 miles each time...Today I actually did 1.5...yay me=)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your evening.
The best way to do is it with friends. If you're looking for a third, I'm in!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great goal :) and being committed is the first step and without the first step you cannot take step two!!
ReplyDeleteWTG!!!
I so admire you for committing to this, you can do it Tammy. Just do baby toddling first, a walk around the block to start with, when you get home from work and build from that. I have started walking this month and I am just toddling at the moment..lol.

Just found your blog -- I'm starting over again too (got from 311 to 219, back now to 299). It's great that you made the commitment to do the half marathon!
ReplyDeleteNot crazy. Inspiring!!!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it! And I'm so proud of you.
You'll do just fine Tammy. I think you will love doing it in the long run. Just make sure you put in the training. Mike and I did 3-4 miles 2-3 times a week and then a long walk every Sunday. It really didn't seem bad at all. You can do it!!!!!!
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteBefore work...
ugh.
I know.
ps.Did you get your earrings after?

A
cool! Congrats. You will do great!
ReplyDeleteFantastic to have a realistic goal! I walked a half in Atlanta in 2008 - I trained, but never went farther than 8 miles in training, and I was still able to do it. I'm excited for you! I want to find a half to commit to - maybe you've inspired me!
ReplyDeleteIt's always motivating to have something to train for. I remember how hard it was to make time to exercise after a long stressful day at work. I'd try to take breaks and walk around my building or find some stairs to climb at lunch because every little bit helps. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteTell me when the day comes so I can strap my pedometer to your ankle and gets me some steps = $$, LOL!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that we have made this commitment together!!! (Or maybe, as you said, we need to be committed together...LOL!). I am super excited that you are going to do this w/me! I just need to find the event and sign up! :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to get together and start logging some miles...:)
I love how you wrote "I hope I don't die."
ReplyDeletehahaha
As if. It's a lot easier to move once you get rid of the extra.
I hate to be the bearer of pain in the ass news.
