Sodium Sucks

I wasn't able to flush all the sodium from Wednesday night's dinner out.  And I know it's a sodium problem because I weighed less than this Wednesday morning, and have stayed within my calories and kept exercising.  I knew better and I just didn't care at the time.  I must always remind myself when I'm about to do something stupid that I will most definitely care when Friday gets here.....and that Friday comes around every single week.  My weigh-in is 234.0 this morning for a gain of 3 lbs.  Great way to start off my new month.  Have a good weekend everyone.

  1. Don't let those 3 pounds ruin your weekend! Drink lots and flush that sodium away. Drink. Pee. Drink. Pee. What a life! :)

  2. I'm sorry about your water weight gain from too much sodium. It's crazy what too much sodium can do to us. I second Dawn, don't let those 3 pounds ruin your weekend..You know you were down lower, you know it's sodium. Drink water and flush it out and keep moving. Your doing so great, keep it up.

  3. I just try to remember that's the water weight is temporary. This too shall pass.

  4. Hang in there - what is retained must eventually be released! Up the water intake and it will disappear in the next couple days. Hope you have a good weekend, Tammy!

  5. Aww...well..you predicted it so the good news is that you know how your body works and that this is temporary. I'm sure you'll use this to motivate strong choices through the weekend. Have a great one!

  8. Yeah, I know better and sometimes do it anyway too. I hate the consequences, but I know I earned them. At least you can recover from the sodium bloat more quickly than fat bloat!

  9. Don't sweat it! Or maybe you could sweat it out?! :D

Sodium is one thing that I never had on my radar - until I was helping a co-worker meal plan to keep her sodium under 1500 mg. I use www.caloriecount.com and added sodium as a nutrient to track - I was shocked that I ranged between 3000 - 5000 mg a day!

It's my deli ham and my love of cheese. Just one ounce of deli ham has 850!

Don't beat yourself up, its one weigh in - breath in, breath out.

And have a great weekend! :D

  10. Okay, but you know it's just water so don't even pay attention to it!!! Just keep drinking your water and keep on track and you'll see those 3 pounds disappear, along with some new ones.

  11. That is something I'm having to work on too. I am styaing within my calories, but definitely am not making the healthiest options for those calories. We can do it!

  12. I was up 5+ this week from sodium so I totally hear you! I have followed what the others said and kept drinking water to flush it out. Have a good weekend!

  13. You've followed my advice on a number of things. Why not the scale? Why not weigh every two weeks instead of every week? You causing yourself needless worry and anxiety. Things that could even out and be eliminated had you weighed every two weeks...or heck, even three.

What's the goal? If you do what you know is right and good---then the weight will come off....then every couple or three weeks, you check.
Stop letting the scale dictate your emotions!!!!

You know I'm just being your friend.

    My Best always
    Sean

  14. Hi Tammy ... I know all about sodium. It is a killer with me as well. We both know that it's just water so drink lots of water to get rid of it. One of the dieticians at work told me to try to keep sodium at around 1500mg a day. Good grief, do you know how hard that is. Nothing packaged, no deli meat. Just about nothing. lol!! Anyway, don't worry it will come off. You're doing great!

  15. At least you know the culprit will be gone in a day or two, and then you will see the scale doing what you want it to!

Hope you have a great weekend.

  20. I've given up adding extra salt to my foods, I know lots of foods have salt in them...so that's all I allow myself...takes a while to get used to the taste of food without.
My mom is addicted to salt, she pours it on her food and even apples...I saw how swollen she was every morning - her eyes were so small...I dont want to follow in my mom's foot steps so have decided rather to give up totally...
