First Day On The Job

Job-wise, the day was great!  Food-wise....do we really have to talk about that?  lol

I felt very comfortable at work.  So far all the people seem very nice and friendly.  Staci, the girl who's training me, was very helpful and patient.  I seemed to pick up on stuff pretty quickly.  I answered phones today, as well as caught up their filing and learned how to set up files for claims.  I don't think I made any mistakes....hopefully nothing will come back to bite me in the a$$ tmrw, lol.

Right now, I'm sitting right beside Staci at her desk, which is the receptionist desk.  She will be going on vacation next week, and when she comes back, her desk will be in Billie's office, because she'll be doing other duties to help her.  But for now, I'm sitting with Staci and I just didn't feel comfortable breaking out all my food and laying it all over her papers (her desk is covered up with papers).

I got to work at 7:30am and had a 110 calorie Kashi blackberry graham bar for breakfast while Billie had her cup of oatmeal.  I'm used to eating every 2-3 hours, but that didn't happen today.  I brought some fruit with me and a small chicken sandwich on a whole wheat bun...250 cals.  But I didn't eat anything besides the Kashi bar until noon.  I was FAMISHED and the last thing I wanted was the banana and lil bitty chicken sandwich.  I wanted much more.  I went to Publix across the street and got 2 chicken tenders and a little pasta salad out of their deli....it was so good and I felt like I could 3x that much.  I went back to the ofc and sat in Billie's ofc and ate the chicken sandwich I brought and the watermelon.  About 3:30p I just couldn't stand it anymore, and ate my banana.

I got home and had a big sandwich for dinner w/ ham, turkey, lettuce, tomato & onion.  I was really tired and didn't FEEL like preparing anything for tmrw, but I went ahead and threw some veggies in my roaster pan and roasted them in the oven just so I could have SOMETHING cooked and ready in the frig....broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, carrots & mushrooms....weird combo but I was too tired to care, lol.  I also took some chicken sausages out of the freezer to thaw, so they'll be ready in the frig tmrw when I get home from work and I can just throw them in the oven...they only take about 10-15 mins to cook.  I've got some leftover salad in the frig from dinner at mom's last night that I'm taking for lunch tmrw w/ raspberry vinaigrette...I'm going to put some sliced deli chicken on it, that I made my sandwich with today.  Also taking another banana, some more watermelon & a couple of pieces of dark chocolate....I had a chocolate craving today and hit the evil vending machine for some peanut M&M's....Doh!  But that won't be happening tmrw...the dark chocolate I'm bringing is 45 cals a piece...much better choice.

Still trying to figure out how to get my water in.  I drank (1) 32 oz glass of water over the course of the day, and had to run to the bathroom to pee 7 or 8 times.  I got away with it today because Staci was there to answer the phone, but I don't see how I'm going to get away with it next week.  I drank most of yesterday's water after 7pm last night, and I got up 3 different times in the middle of the night to pee....so my sleep was interrupted 3 different times.  If I can't drink it at work because of all the bathroom breaks, and I can't drink it at night because it messes up my sleep....I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do to get all my water in.  I'm a little bit frustrated with that right now.  I drank another 32 oz glass when I got home this evening...but that's only 2 for the whole day, and I usually drink 4.

A couple of you asked about my baby Scarlette.  She's trained on pee pads, so I put 2 down for her this morning, side by side, and she did just fine.  She was very happy to see me when I got home, but she didn't act like she was mad at me for leaving her for so long, so that's a plus.  It's hard to leave her after spending every day with her...but Momma needs a paycheck!  :)

I'll be headed to bed in about an hour or so...hope everyone is doing better than me with their weight loss!  :)

  1. I'm glad that your first day on your new job went so well.

You'll figure out the food situation as you go along. Water? I don't know...

  2. So glad that your day went well Tammy! I was thinking about you all day.

I have the same problem with drinking my water and peeing at work. Luckily, I can leave every 30 minutes to pee, but it's embarrassing!

Poise pads? JOKE! I have no answer.

  4. Hi Tammy. Glad you're happy in the new job - and that Scarlette is OK about it too.

If I'm doing anything out of the ordinary I don't eat for hours ... and then am famished. You'll work out a routine of regular snacks and meals pretty soon.

The water - maybe have to save it for weekends only.

I'm sooo happy for you! I think in the next week you will find your groove and your eating plans will improve :)

  10. I'm sure it will be better once you have the desk to yourself and you're able to eat the food you brought from home instead of hitting the evil vending machine.

The water is a tough one. I used to cover for our receptionist every hour so she could take a quick pee break. Maybe you can work something out so you can still get your water in during the day so you're not up all night.

Glad Scarlette was a good girl while you were gone all day.

    Yay for paychecks!

  11. Glad to hear you had a great first day at the new job. I had a hard time when I returned to work too. You will figure it out once you are on your own and find your groove. Good luck!

  12. Hi friend! I was thinking about you as I drove to work this morning. I bet once you get into a routine at work, your whole eating routine will as well. Even when everything goes well, it takes time to settle in and begin to feel truly at home in a new place. But in your whole life I bet things will shift and settle in ways it's hard to imagine.

I laughed about you being up 3 times in the night to pee...last Friday night after I forced fluids all day, i must have been up about 7 times! Luckily I could fall back pretty quick, but that's how water logged my parts were! And I'm a thousand years older than you as well!

Thinking of you today at 10:30 a.m., hoping day 2 is going even better than day 1! Hugs!

  14. Yeah for the first day! As time goes on the routine of eating at work will get easier. Nice that Scarlette is getting on well in your absence, too. Things are looking up, kiddo.

  15. I answer the phones at my work and it is a little embarassing to have to ago so frequently but your health is important too.

Glad to hear Scarlette has adjusted. My friend always tell her dog when she is leaving the house "Momma's gotta go make money to buy dog food!" LOL

  16. Hi you'll find you get used to the water. The key is to sip a little often. Think of a dry pot plant and if you pour a lot of water into it, it will all just come straight out, but if you water it gradually it will retain it. Don't worry you won't be a pee machine forever!
