No News Isn't Always Good News

Ok.  I'm really tired of talking about this crap (my life, my joblessness, etc.) to the point that I really wish I could just go *poof* and disappear...or perhaps drive a T-bird off a cliff in the Grand Canyon.  I'll be Louise...anyone wanna'  be my Thelma?

I got tired of waiting for days on end to hear about the job I interviewed for on Monday....the one that I said I felt 90-95% sure I got because I "thought" the hour-long interview went so well.  Shows you how much I know...

I called Wendy at TRC Staffing today to inquire if she'd heard ANYTHING at all yet???  She said they interviewed ANOTHER girl TODAY...and she actually told me that Rhonda said it went "REAAAALLLY WELL" with that girl......so I was like, "Ok...um....well...well how did they say MY interview went on Monday?"  Wendy said they haven't mentioned how mine went.

Nice....well thanks for telling me how the OTHER girl's interview went....now I'm feeling on top of the world!  NOT.

She said that Rhonda told her they just haven't been able to make their final decision yet.  I wasn't getting good vibes that it was going to be me.  So instead of staying in perpetual worry & wait mode...I'm going with the assumption that I'm not going to be the one who gets hired....and that I'm back to Square One.  Do I need to mention how much I hate Square One?  I didn't think so.

There's your update.  Have a good weekend everone...I'm off to gas up the T-bird.

  4. As many times as I would have tied a scarf on my head and went with you...you can't go now, you have to wait for me!

I don't know what to say except well sh*t....

There has to be a reason, and hopefully God will let you know what that is, very soon....

  7. Hey Tammy, I know it's hard to feel positive when thinks are not working out in your favor. Hope you realize something better must be waiting for you. One thing I suggest is to have a paradigm shift in the way you are thinking about the job..it's like joining a family in a way. Maybe look where you haven't looked as far as type of job / location/type of business.

I've worked as a nurse in a lot of hospitals , and there are a lot of buisness / computer / billing/office type positions in hospitals, nursing homes, insurance companies, home health companies, and md offices that people don't realize are there. Since you live in Kennesaw I just looked on line at Wellstar and Northside Cherokee==there are jobs that are clerical / computer health information related on their job sites. Since I live on the east side of town I'm more familiar with what is there, so you may want to look at some more places that you can commute to from your home. I encourage you to check out some of their websites yourself. Sometimes these businesses do not go through temp agencies and just place ads ( I worked in home health and we never used temp agencies and your background would fit in well with the claims / billing dept. Healthcare is the way to go for job security, and getting your foot in the door get's you better prospects . We know you got computer skills ..so check it out. Chin up girl.

  8. I hate people who say things like I'm going to say, but here goes anyway...if you didn't get it, it wasn't the right thing for you. And you don't really know anything yet, but it also puts me in mind of Jack Sh*t suggesting that until you have a solid offer, best to stay in the hunt.
And here's one more stupid thing...You still lost almost 10 pounds this week. This whole job mess would feel a lot worse 10 pounds heavier. Yes? Just tryin' to cheer you up here!

If I'm your Thelma, we ain't going off a cliff - we're going to have fun! Eat low fat bon bons and moon people on the open highways. Sorry I can't go drinking or anything like that, but I can get pretty crazy and fun stone cold sober!

Have a good weekend, Tammy. Watch the want ads and Craig's List and whatever...but also do some really loving things for yourself. Tell Dwayne to pamper you. And hang in there - you have many prayers and hugs being sent out on your behalf! You'll get through to the other side of this job situation.

  10. Put the gas nozzle down and step away from the T-Bird.

I have no words of wisdom and I can't even begin to pretend to know exactly where you are coming from. I just want to send you a hug and let you know that my fingers remain crossed.

Hang tough, love. You will come through.

  11. I just want to scream out loud for you!! How frustrating!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry to add to your vent, but it is just so flippin' annoying that people who try so hard to work can't find anything. Irritating. OK...so sorry if I joined in on your rant but seriously....somebody needs to cut you a break NOW!

  12. You don't know you didn't get it yet. You never know what's going to happen in the other girl's life. Maybe she's interviewing for a few jobs and is taking another one. You just don't know.

  13. Hi Tammy. If you don't get the job it doesn't mean the interview didn't go well. There are all kinds of reasons why someone chooses one person for their team rather than another eg they don't want someone they will feel too matey with as they'll feel uncomfortable ordering them around, they don't want someone cleverer than them, they don't want someone who appears too confident etc etc etc. Sometimes they are not looking for the brightest, most confident candidate. And it's impossible to tell from the interview exactly what they are looking for.

Don't give up. You'll find the job that is the right for you. And there's no point at all to worrying about any interview afterwards. We shouldn't worry about things we have no control over.

And you're doing a great job with the stuff you can control.

  15. Hold it right there, Louise!!! You aren't Louise!!! Nooooo, you are a fighter. You would not 'solve' things the way they did. Crazy movie, eh?

I hope you can enjoy some sunshine & maybe a nice walk w/little Scarlette this weekend.

  16. I know how heartbreaking it is to not get an opportunity you so desperately want, but I'm a firm believer in the fact that those things happen for a good reason. I've never been what anyone would think of a strong religious person, but I do believe in God and that He closes and opens doors for reasons. Just before I read your post, in fact, I was talking to my wife about a period my my life when I had a whole string of experiences where I came painfully close to getting good jobs and then having them fall through at the last second. I was devastated at the time, but soon after all that heartbreak an opportunity opened up for me to change careers entirely. Had I landed any of the opportunities I was so upset about not getting, I would likely never have had the chance to get into software development, which has suited me a whole lot better than my prior career.

And I am convinced the same will happen for you, but probably not how and when you expect.

  18. Tammy--hang in there! Sorry that you're going through this rough patch, but you WILL look back at this from where you want to be soon. My motto is that if you throw enough spaghetti against the wall, something's gonna stick! Get to throwing some pasta, chica! BTW, awesome loss this week--so jealous! ;)

  19. So sorry, I still hope you get it or find something that is 100% right for you soon!
