I'm going to try eating at 1200 calories today. There are a few things I know about myself. I still have obsessive food thoughts...eat when I'm not hungry..duh! And I'm a volume eater, so even when I'm eating within my calorie range, I shoot for the lowest calorie foods so I can have more of them. I'm at a desk for 9 1/2 hours during the day and that makes for a lot of idle time to snack.
But I thought I'd try something different on Allan's challenge. He eats around this number, and he's thrilled with his losses. He never has a gain..he never maintains..he always loses, and it's caught my attention and stoked my curiosity. I wonder if I could stick to 1200 cals/day? I've never tried. So I'm going to.
Mind you...if I start to feel like I'm going to cut loose and binge or something horrific like that, I'm taking it right back up to 1870...so we'll see. You never know until you try. :)

Hope it goes well for you!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it. :)
When I stuck to 1200 - 1300 calories, I was super successful. I lost a ton of weight. Problem is, it's hard. 1200 means your hungry. Not enought snacks (for me at least). Of course, if it were easy, we'd all be skinny. I SOOOO hope you can stick with it. I SO want to get there and do that. I wish you well! Be strong and PLAN everything!
ReplyDeleteAnother thought, by all means try the 1200 but if you aren't able to maintain it, shoot for something inbetween. 1400 or 1500. The 1870 will be hard to lose a lot of weight.
I hope this doesn't seem like I am trying to deter you because I'm not. PLEASE stay strong and stick with it and you WILL see results!
Whew...1200 calories...have to pick and choose wisely. I know that you can do it...when you want something badly enough--you make it happen...at all costs and sacrifice.
ReplyDeleteIf this is what you want...I know you can do it!!! Here's to a great day for you!!!!
Good luck. I'm sure you can do it, but not sure I'd try for more than a day. As soon as you return goal maintenance eating, or even 1500/day, the rapid loss will slow at best, or even show a little gain. But the weekly (only) weighing is good because you won't see the fluctuations and have it play with your head!
ReplyDeleteFor me, I've done 1200 many times long ago and always had great success. But the success was short lived. Can't wait to hear how it goes!
You can do it, Tammy. Plan ahead. Drink your water. Carrots are your best friends. Eat 300 calories worth of breakfast every day. Watch the carbs.
ReplyDeleteGood luck Tammy! I dropped to this calorie level too, and the cals do go fast so choose wisely. Can't wait to see your progress.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! 1200 is what I live on... Somedays it's easy, and other days, not so much ;D
ReplyDeleteLots of lean protein will help too. It really fills you up and the calorie to volume ratio is good. Chicken breasts, turkey, lean pork, and fish. Use herbs and things like lemon and lime to season with to help with the lack of fats due to the limited calories. Just some ideas :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your decision. this is complicated stuff!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
ReplyDeleteHey Tammy ... lots of protein, hardly any carbs and always balance carbs with protein. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThe key is to find out what works for you. When that happens, it will be easier.
